The Importance of Dealing with Extreme Emotions

Does Sam ever get this steam blowing, red faced fury as the sits at home getting nagged at by her “almost psychopathic, over controlling, helicopter parents” for the “F” she made on her final report card. We sometimes get frustrated and feel like screaming until our vocal cords rip in two. Although we as people sometimes feel like a raging monster there are reasons they should control our anger. The importance of dealing with extreme emotion is so we can grow as a person, and can make better decisions.

It’s very important that anyone deals with emotion, because it allows anyone to grow as a person. For example, I have recently been on the high school majorette line, I know the middle school line looks up to us high school twirlers, because anything we do they follow. So, being a “perfect” leader is important to be so younger peers have a better experience, and they learn from what “the older girls do.” In addition, being an angry person all the time doesn’t help the people that look up to anyone. When the world seems to be crashing in around that overworked, single mother, trying to support her kids on a minimum wage job. She might be tempted to lose her temper, yell at the kids, slam the dinner plates on the table and shout, “There’s your dinner!” However, being angry doesn’t always make us lose our temper, but when it does it’s important to control emotions so that peers don’t act that way, because “mommy does it.”

Another reason it’s important to deal with extreme emotion is so people can make better decisions. For example, the almost 15-year-old “matured” 9th grader, Garrett, is in an argument with his immature 11-year-old stepbrother, Owen. Garrett knows if he doesn’t control his anger the can, and will turn into the hulk, but instead Garrett decides to talk through it with Owen, so that he doesn’t get grounded later when his hard working parents get home from work. In addition, a salesman named Bill showed up at his office after a devastating rejection from the biggest company in South America. As Bill walked in he sees his boss sitting, and waiting to hear the “good news,” but instead Bill had to tell his boss what actually happened. Instead of yelling at Bill for not doing his absolute best while trying to make this important sale, Bills boss talked to Bill calmly about the situation, so maybe Bill will be a little more motivated to do his best his next try. In other words, whether it’s being in arguments, or not getting something right, it’s always important to control anger for later on in the future.

Therefore, when getting that steam blowing, red faced fury it’s important to control anger for the better, or in other words, so we can grow as a person, and can make better decisions.
