The Effects of Cell phones

Angelica is driving home past midnight from her Miranda Lambert concert, and she’s ready to be home in the big, warm, cozy bed, but what she doesn’t know is I20 is very busy, and her tiredness is already distracting enough. Angelica’s phone makes a loud “DING”, and she looks down to see who texted her, right as she looked down she got rear ended. There are positive and negative sides to the new astonishing technology we call smart phones. People’s lives have been affected by cellphones by increasing laziness, and quick effective communication.

Statistics show that people are more likely to become a “couch potato” if you are a smart phone user. For example Los Angeles Times wrote an article about the laziness increasing in smartphone users. Frequent cell phone users are far more likely to forgo or disrupt physical exercise, and scored lower on fitness assessments than peers who use cell phones less frequently. In addition, after a long day at school or work people want to crawl up in bed, and that’s usually what they do. The problem with that is since they are already in bed “why get up to do anything?” most people would say, but say you get hungry and you don’t want to get up? what do you do you use your handy-dandy smart phone, and hit up a homie on the other side of the house to get you food, instead of getting it yourself.

Another way cell phones have changed our lives is giving us quick effective communication. For example, Jarron is locked out of his house, and his mom Sharon is working the night shift at Good Shepherd Medical Center. With the new Iphones there is something called Imessage, with Imessage anyone with that can tell when the receiver has received the message, when they have read the message, and when they are typing back. In addition, Jarron gets in a car wreck where he hydroplanes into the car in front of him, but there is no one around to call for help, so Jarron pulls out his Iphone 6 plus, presses the lock button so is phone is light up with the bright colors of his lock screen and slides to the left, after sliding to the left instead of pressing more than one button he goes to the bottom left corner and presses the “Emergency call button” to save a bunch of typing.

Therefore, smartphones have made our lives better in negative and positive ways by increasing laziness, and giving us quick effective communication.
